Calls for Clarification for the Role of Federal Oversight
The Automotive Service Association reports that in July 2017, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) submitted a report on vehicle data privacy to the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Research and Technology, under the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
The report:
- Examines the types, use and sharing of data collected by connected vehicles
- Determines the extent to which selected automakers’ privacy policies for these data align with leading practices
- Evaluates related federal roles and efforts, among other objectives
