Wholesale Used Vehicle Prices Down in March Compared to 2017

First declines since August 2014

According to ADESA Analytical Services’ monthly analysis of Wholesale Used Vehicle Prices the average wholesale used vehicle prices registered their first year-over-year price decline since August 2014, continuing the general softening pattern seen since the impact of the hurricanes waned in late 2017. Retail used vehicle sales, including CPO sales, were strong, reflecting Spring, tax-season demand.

Generally, lower used vehicle prices increase pressure on the number of total losses impacting the collision repair industry, while rising prices allow for more collision repair work to be performed prior to a vehicle being
