California Bill Seeking to Overturn Collision Repair Labor Rate Survey Regulations Approved by Committee

At a hearing Wednesday, the California Assembly Insurance Committee approved Assembly Bill 2276 (AB 2276) by a vote of 13-0. The bill that seeks to modify collision repair labor survey regulations that came into effect last year. Beyond modifying regulations covering how insurance company survey of collision repair labor rates are conducted, the legislation would remove restrictions against an insurer requiring a collision repair shop to pay for a rental vehicle and towing charge.

Introduced by Assembly Member Autumn Burke, the current bill is similar legislation to AB 1679, also introduced by Burke, that died in the Assembly
