NHTSA Issues Federal Guidance for Improving Vehicle Cybersecurity

Guidance covers cybersecurity best practices for motor vehicles, individuals and organizations manufacturing and designing vehicle systems and software.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is taking a proactive safety approach to protect vehicles from malicious cyber-attacks and unauthorized access by releasing proposed guidance for improving motor vehicle cybersecurity. The issue of vehicle cybersecurity will grow as vehicles become increasingly connected to the outside world via telematics.
