Lawsuits Filed Challenging DOL Overtime Rule

Attorneys General in 21 states file lawsuit seeking to overturn the Obama Administration’s expansion of overtime eligibility. Private groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, NADA and NFIB, file separate lawsuit.

A coalition of Attorneys General in 21 states are filing a federal lawsuit challenging the United States Department of Labor’s new overtime rule. If implemented, the new rule would more than double the minimum salary cutoff under which employers must pay overtime to their employees. According to Attorneys General suit, the rule will force state and local governments and small businesses to substantially increase their employment costs at the
