Auto Insurance Rates Rose in 27 States in the First Half of 2026

Insurify projects 32 states will post increases by year’s end, with Connecticut facing the steepest.

Full-coverage car insurance rates rose in 27 states during the first six months of 2026, reversing a 6% national decline the year before, according to Insurify Inc.’s 2026 Mid-Year Auto Report released Aug. 11.

The online insurance comparison platform projects that 32 states will post year-over-year increases by the end of 2026. The national average annual cost of full coverage stood at $2,237 at mid-year.
