Rhode Island DBR Issues Auto Body Bulletin on Best Practices, Enforcement Trends

Documentation gaps in final repair bills and total loss handling are among 2024 complaint trends cited by Rhode Island regulators, who also urge collision repair facilities to strengthen technician training, repair documentation and licensing compliance.

The Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation (DBR) has issued Auto Body Bulletin Number 2026-01, summarizing best practices and enforcement trends drawn from disciplinary inquiries reviewed by the department and its auto body licensing board during calendar year 2024. The bulletin, signed by Associate Director Donald DeFedele and dated April 6, urges licensees to tighten repair documentation, keep technician training rosters current throughout the year
