Traffic Volume Up 5.6% in February Compared to Last Year

A milder winter season and lower gas prices help improve driving volumes. Driving increases continued across all five regions in the U.S.

Travel for the month of February is estimated at 232.2 billion vehicle miles nationwide according to the most recent data released by the Federal Highway Administration. The February result continues the positive trend influencing the growth in auto physical damage insurance claims and collision repair industry volume. February’s traffic volume represents an increase of 5.6 percent, or 12.4 billion vehicle miles, compared to February 2015.

For the first two months of the year, driving totaled 472.8 billion vehicle
