Virginia Photo Appraisal Law Signed by Governor

New law takes effect July 1 allowing photos and videos to be used during the collision repair claim process.

Virginia Senate Bill 193 (SB 193), that allows the preparation of auto insurance appraisals of collision damage to be done using digital photos and video, was signed into law by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe on March 1. The new law takes effect July 1.

SB 193 revises §38.2-510 of the Code of Virginia that defines unfair claim practices, revising a provision that previously required a physical inspection to state:
