Connecticut Legislation Would Require OEM Collision Repair Procedures

Bill would place requirements on both collision repair facilities and insurers to follow OEM procedures and recommendations. Customers can authorize deviations.

Connecticut House Bill 7266 (HB 7266), introduced February 28, would place requirements on both collision repair facilities and insurers operating in the state to follow OEM procedures.

The bill would add a new section to the Connecticut General Statutes that would prohibit an insurance policy from requiring collision repair facilities to deviate from OEM procedures. The proposed new section states:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2019) Notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes, no motor vehicle insurance policy
