Association cites concern bill follows NCOIL template backed by Safelite.
The Independent Glass Association said it opposes California Senate Bill 988, introduced by Sen. Tim Grayson, saying the measure is a version of a national legislative template developed by the National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) and promoted by Safelite AutoGlass and insurance interests.
The association, which represents independent automotive glass businesses, said the bill would reduce consumer choice, undermine independent auto glass shops, encourage insurer-directed steering and weaken market competition.
