After reaching tentative agreement on wage increases in October, the deadline to reach final agreement on master contract to avert another strike looms on January 15.
Leaders from the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), representing 45,000 port workers and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) employer group were reported to be resuming negotiations today for a new master contract with the deadline looming on Wednesday, January 15 next week. If an agreement is not reached by the deadline, another strike at the east and gulf coast ports is considered likely.
