ASA Reports OSHA Secretary Advocates for More Inspectors

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) reported that Marty Walsh, the Secretary of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) spoke in front of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and related agencies regarding the FY 2022 budget for the U.S. Department of Labor. In his submitted statement, the secretary noted that the Department of Labor’s worker protection agencies have lost over 14 percent of their staff.

This loss of staff makes workers more vulnerable to workplace violations. In the President’s 2022 budget, there is an additional $304 million allocated for worker protection agencies, including
