The University of Michigan survey was up both on a month-over-month and year-over-year basis.
Consumer confidence in July increased slightly during the month as consumers indicated positive job and income prospects remain though they are more cautious about home and auto purchases. The Index of Consumer Sentiment stood at 98.4 for the month of July, up 0.2% from June and up 0.5% from July 2018.
The final consumer sentiment statistics remained unchanged in late July from the mid-month reading, with all component questions showing only small and offsetting changes. Economic confidence has been remarkably stable since the start of 2017,
