Rhode Island Passes Legislation Clarifying Need for Physical Inspections on Collision Repair Claims Exceeding $2500

Rhode Island amends its unfair claims practice regulations. Jina Petrarca from Auto Body Association of Rhode Island details legislation in interview.

The Rhode Island legislature passed House and Senate companion bills that amend and expand the definitions of unfair claims practices committed by insurers with regard to physical inspection, performance of appraisals, retail valuation and total loss notification to owner. Senate Bill 849, passed by the House in concurrence on June 20 and  House Bill 6101 passed by the Senate on Tuesday, clarify that on vehicles with more than $2500 in damage, physical inspections must be performed by insurers to
