Missouri Repairers Urged to Contact Governor to Support Veto of Anti-Vehicle Safety Inspection Legislation

June 6, 2019 By CollisionWeek Editor

As CollisionWeek reported Monday, Missouri House Bill 451, that would have repealed the requirement that motor vehicles be inspected before being licensed, failed to make it to the Missouri Senate floor for a final vote.

While House Bill 451 died in the Senate, two other bills had language added that dilute vehicle safety inspection by exempting vehicles ten years of age or less and with less than 150,000 miles from regular safety inspections. Senate Bill 89 and Senate Bill 147 have been sent to Missouri Governor Michael Parson’s for signature.

The Automotive Service Association, the Alliance of Automotive Service Professionals of Missouri and the Midwest Auto Care Alliance are all urging Missouri repairers and vehicle owners to contact Governor Parson’s office to oppose these bills and for them not to be signed into law.

Call Governor Parson’s office at (573) 751-3222 or submit comments through the Governor’s website.
