A bill introduced in the Minnesota House of Representatives on May 20 seeks to amend the state’s existing standards for automobile claims handling expanding restrictions on steering prohibiting an insurer from attempting to influence consumers choice of a repair shop. The bill, HF 2919, introduced by Rep. Mary Franson, seeks to amend section 72A.201, subdivision 6 of the Minnesota Statutes 2018 that detail standards for automobile insurance claims handling, settlement offers, and agreements.
