The Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Operations Committee is raising concerns with the recently release scanning policy from State Farm that was sent to the largest U.S. auto insurer’s Select Service collision repair centers.
ASA raised concerns that while the document indicates that the insurer does give consideration to OEM position statements, due to their “broad and general nature” State Farm considers them on a case-by-case basis based upon the specific vehicle being repaired.
The policy explains that Select Service repairers are responsible for determining when pre or post scans are necessary to properly repair a vehicle and that payment
