Amended Illinois Bill Passes State Senate

April 15, 2019 By CollisionWeek Editor

Legislation mandates repairers use OEM collision repair procedures, requires written customer authorization for aftermarket parts.

An Illinois Senate Bill that would revise the Illinois Automotive Collision Repair Act to require repair facilities to follow OEM procedures was passed Friday by the Senate with an amendment clarifying that the bill would not mandate OEM parts that may be recommended.

Introduced on February 15 the legislation seeks to prohibit repair facilities and installers from using procedures that do not comply with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Senate Bill 2104 (SB 2104) would also expand existing consumer aftermarket collision repair parts disclosure requirements
