The U.S. Senate Finance Committee yesterday held a hearing to examine the impact of tariffs on the automobile industry in the U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) has been critical of the Trump Administration’s expanding use of tariffs. In May, In Hatch called the Department of Commerce Section 232 investigation into imports of automobiles, trucks and automotive parts deeply misguided. He also expressed frustration with the administration’s decision to impose steel and aluminum tariffs from the European Union, Canada and Mexico.
