Compared to the same month the previous year, traffic volume in the U.S. was up. The 12-month rolling average is at record levels.
Travel volume in May increased on a year-over-year basis. The increase marks a return to growing traffic volume after a decline in April. Increased driving, coupled with higher numbers of new, insured vehicles, has supported higher collision repair industry volume and auto physical damage insurance claims across the U.S.
Travel for the month of May is estimated at 286.2 billion vehicle miles nationwide according to the most recent data released by the Federal Highway Administration.
