Legislation expands OEM parts requirement to 48 months, requires OEM collision repair procedures.
The Rhode Island Senate Committee on the Judiciary yesterday approved an amended version of Senate Bill 2679 (SB 2679) that expands the state’s existing requirement that insurers pay for OEM parts on claims for 30 months after a vehicle is manufactured to all claims for a period of 48 months. The bill also requires insurers notify all vehicle owners in writing that estimates include non-OEM parts, not just first-party insureds.
The bill also prohibits insurers from requiring a repairer to us repair procedures that are not compliant
