Independent Collision Repair Facility Population Continues to Increase in the U.S.

Latest data from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the number of independent collision repair facilities grew in 2016. Combined dealer and independent shop population up.

The latest available data from the U.S. Census Bureau County Business Patterns annual research series covering 2016 shows that the number of independent collision repair businesses with payroll increased again in 2016 after a slight decline in 2015. The 2016 result returns the industry to growth that was reported the previous three years from 2012-2014.

The number of independent collision repair facilities with payroll was 33,950 in 2016, up 302 from 33,648 in 2015,
