California Bill That Sought to Overturn Collision Repair Anti-Steering and Labor Rate Regulations Fails to Advance

California Assembly Appropriations Committee did not approve legislation at hearing last week.

At a hearing on January 18, the California Assembly Appropriations Committee refused to advance Assembly Bill 1679 (AB 1679) that sought to overturn California Department of Insurance (CDI) anti-steering and collision repair labor rate regulations that took effect in March 2017.

The bill, as amended, would reverse key provisions of both the anti-steering and labor rate regulations that were adopted by the California Division of Insurance late last year that became effective in March.
