Uber Temporarily Suspends Autonomous Vehicle Pilot Following Crash in Arizona

Uber Technologies Inc. temporarily suspended its pilot autonomous vehicle (AV) program following a crash in Arizona on Friday. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, another vehicle failed to yield to the Uber vehicle. The pilots restarted Monday.

The move will have the ride-hailing company suspend its pilot AV project in Arizona, California and Pennsylvania.

According to the Journal report, Tempe police don’t believe the Uber vehicle was responsible for the accident and no serious injuries were reported.

 

Updated: March 28 to include restart of program. Correct date of crash to Friday.
