Would also require OEM collision repair parts for three years or length of OEM warranty.
New York Assembly Bill 6617 (AB 6617), introduced on Friday, would require collision repair facilities in state to get a signed customer notice and authorization form before using any non-OEM parts in vehicle repairs. Additionally, insurers could not require the use of non-OEM parts during the model year of the vehicle and two subsequent years or the length of the vehicle manufacturer’s warranty, whichever is longer.
AB 6617 seeks to add a new subdivision, 2-a, to Section 398-d of the state’s vehicle and traffic law.
