The Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) issued a position statement supporting the process of pre- and post- collision repair scanning of vehicles and raising concerns that some vehicle manufacturers restrict access to data or charge prices that are not affordable for the aftermarket to access. Without timely data releases by vehicle manufacturers, aftermarket tool providers will not be able to fully emulated the tools offered by vehicle manufacturers.
