Advance CTE and the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) applauded the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage last week of H.R. 5587, the “Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.” According to the associations, this legislation would reauthorize and make important updates to the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins). The Perkins Act provides vital funding for career education including collision repair. The bill received wide bipartisan support and was overwhelmingly passed by the chamber in a 405-5 vote following unanimous approval by the House Education and the Workforce Committee earlier this summer.
