Bill requires insurers to include disclosure on estimates provided to consumers that they have a right to choose a collision repair facility.
On June 21, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed Assembly Bill 7738 (AB7738) that amends Section 2610 of the New York State Insurance Law to require insurance companies to disclose a consumer’s right to select a collision repair facility on estimates provided to the consumer.
Current regulations provide consumers with a right to choose a collision repair facility and limit when insurance companies can suggest a specific repair facility.
The existing regulation states:

How has this story not been corrected yet? There is nothing in this law that requires a signature for what the customer is already verbally advised of.
