Washington State Insurance Commissioner Orders Unlicensed Adjuster to Cease Work, Pay $5,000 fine

July 14, 2016 By CollisionWeek Editor

Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler issued a cease and desist order against Rob Marinelli and Insurance Appraisal Services, in Bellevue, Wash. And levied a find of $5,000.

Marinelli owns the IAS office in the Seattle area and has prepared automobile damage estimates since 1995 without a license. According to the Insurance Commissioner, in 2014 and 2015, Marinelli completed some 2,500 damage estimates for consumers. IAS has three offices in the state, none of which employ licensed adjusters. State insurance laws require adjusters to be licensed by the Commissioner.

Marinelli and IAS are ordered to cease and desist from operating

There is a difference between an ‘Appraiser’ and an ‘Adjuster’ as Washington State has an Adjusters License but not an Appraisers License.
