The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) is working to convince Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to veto House Bill 4344 that revises the state’s licensing laws. The bill includes a provision to restricting the use of non-OEM collision repair parts. The bill, amended and approved by a vote of 86-23 in the House of Representative on May 31 was passed by the State Senate by a vote of 33-3 on June 1.
The Auto Care Association and the Auto Body Parts Association (ABPA) also oppose the legislation. The legislation was supported by the Automotive Service Association of Michigan.
