Percentage of Dealers Operating Body Shops Flat in 2015

April 8, 2016 By CollisionWeek Editor

Body shop sales and wholesale parts sales both increased last year.

According to the latest research from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), 39 percent of dealerships featured on-site body shops in 2015, flat from 2014, but above the 36 percent in 2013.

Based upon the percentages reported by NADA, there were approximately 6452 dealers operating body shops, a small increase due to the increase in the overall number of dealers in the U.S. In 2014, it was estimated that 6394 dealers operated on-site body shops, up from 6359 in 2013 and 5996 in 2012.

The figure is still well
