Lexus and Toyota Will Have Automated Braking on Nearly Every Model by End of 2017

Toyota announced that automatic emergency braking (AEB) technology will be available as standard equipment across almost every Toyota and Lexus model in the U.S. by the end of 2017. Doing so will beat, by four years, the 2022 target announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and 20 vehicle manufacturers, including Toyota, last week.

Announced yesterday at the New York Auto Show, Toyota will begin to include the Lexus Safety System + and Toyota Safety Sense packages, anchored by automatic emergency braking (AEB), on almost every new vehicle by the end
