Missouri and North Carolina Get New Salvage Laws

July 13, 2004 By CollisionWeek Editor

The legislatures of Missouri and North Carolina have both had salvage vehicles on their agenda this year, and it looks like they will both soon have new laws as a result.

Introduced in April, North Carolina House Bill 1152 is aimed squarely at total loss and reconstructed vehicle disclosure. The bill proposes requirements to not only have the registration card and title marked Total Loss Claim, but should that vehicle be later reconstructed, repaired, or rebuilt, a permanent tamperproof marker shall be inserted in the doorjamb of the reconstructed, repaired, or rebuilt vehicle.

HB1152 received final approval from the Senate
